Consultancy Membership

Pono’s Consultancy Membership is ideal for parents or educators who believe in the value of democratic education and would like to start their own learning programs inspired by the Pono model. This is an annual membership where participants meet virtually every other Saturday, from 1:00 to 1:30 pm EST with Dr. Maysaa Bazna. The goal of the bi-weekly sessions is to provide some guidance and structure to the participant’s process of creating their healthy, loving, and harmonious learning environments.

Dr. Bazna is the founder of Pono. Her journey to democratic education took several years of research into the history of various classical and modern systems of learning and education, along with introspection into the purpose of education and process of learning. In addition to running Pono, Dr. Bazna is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Special Education Programs at Hunter College (CUNY). Prior to starting Pono, she was a professor in teacher education programs at Columbia University’s Teachers College and the City University of New York, where she taught in the areas of learning disabilities, disability studies, and inclusive education.
