We enjoyed our mid-winter break but are happy to be back on "Planet Pono!"
This week's student-led class found us practicing soccer drills in Marcus Garvey Park! Pono friend Zuri taught us how to zig-zag the ball around cones and make a goal. Zuri proved to be an excellent coach and encouraged the others as they aimed for the net. Then it was time for a friendly scrimmage.
We're really in the swing of winter term now! Find out what happened this week at Pono.
Pono friend and resident bird expert, Bodi, taught us about birds of prey. We learned there are raptors that live right here in New York City and what special features they use to catch their food. We are always learning from our young Pono friends!
We enjoyed another week of discovery in nature, in our city, in our Pono space, and even in ourselves!
Some of our most engaging lessons are taught by Pono children. This week one of our students taught us about symbiosis. She explained what symbiosis is and showed us various examples of mutually beneficial relationships between different organisms.
This week at Pono we explored the world around us...and inside us!
We always look forward to our student-led lessons! This week Pono friend Jasper taught us about Washington, D.C. He shared interesting facts about our nation's capital and illustrated his talk with maps and photos.
