Introduction to World History with Dr. Young Richard Kim
In this class, you will learn about four great rulers of four great empires: Qin Shihuang of China, Cyrus the Great of Persia, Ashoka of India, and Augustus of Rome. You will learn about how they came to power and ruled their kingdoms, what they did well (and not so well), and the lasting impact of their rule.
Dr. Young Richard Kim is associate professor of Classics and Mediterranean Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a historian who loves to teach student about the peoples and cultures of the ancient Mediterranean world.
Day/Time: Mondays, 5:00 to 6:00pm EST
Dates: 5/11, 5/18, 5/25, 6/1 (Four classes)
Ages: 8–15 (Parents are welcome to join their child at no additional charge, or children may attend on their own).
