Let’s Create: The Art Style of Manga! with Richard Ford III [SOLD OUT]
In Let’s Create: The Art Style of Manga! students will learn about visual aesthetics and techniques to produce manga style art. Initially focusing on the foundational skills of illustration, students will then begin working on concepts for creating their own characters. Drawing exercises will help build muscle memory and line confidence. Students will render their final works in traditional manga format (i.e., marker illustration, inking illustration, or pencil). The class will provide a supportive environment that will promote artistic experimentation.
Richard Ford III (known professionally as RF3RD) grew up in Detroit, where he developed an artistic voice informed by his love of graffiti, manga, and anime. He earned his BFA in illustration from Columbia College in Chicago and also studied Japanese history and language, before moving to New York City. One of Richard’s murals is currently on display at First Street Green Art Park on the Lower East Side, and his work was recently included in a group exhibition at CJ. one Gallery in Union Square.
