Read On! Helping Parents Support their Children's Literacy Development with Julietta Eisenberg
In my almost 30 years of teaching, I have learned many things. Perhaps the most important of which is "keep it simple." I have spent years studying and reading about child development and specific approaches to literacy pedagogy, yet my empirical experience and observations have revealed that there is no one "right" approach. Rather, there are varied learning styles, interests, and needs and when these are engaged and respected, VOILA: we have learning (and the confidence and desire to keep doing it)! How can we teach any learner to read and write? Keep it simple, organic, developmentally-appropriate, and above all, FUN! And what's more fun than games? I'll teach you a series of games you can play with your child to get her/him on track.
Julietta Eisenberg is a teacher with 28 years of experience in education. She loves children, learning, and the arts. She has taught drama, poetry, and literacy and is also also a singer-songwriter, poet, and dancer. These disciplines all exert a strong influence on her teaching. She attended Oberlin College and Bank Street College of Education.
