Exploring Unique Musical Instruments & Sounds, with Craig Meyer
In this class, students will explore the sounds of unique musical instruments and learn their origins. Instruments include the theremin, Moog analog synthesizer, Moog modular sequencer, autoharp, conch shell, slide whistle, lap-steel guitar, prepared guitar, drum and percussion, and unusual sounds that can be created with a pencil, electric guitar, and electronic effects! Students will also participate by directing Craig to manipulate certain instruments. Prepare to learn, and discover new, amazing musical sounds!
Craig has been teaching guitar, bass, ukelele, banjo, mandolin, drums, and synthesizer to individuals of all ages for more than 20 years. Originally from the Chicago area, Craig has spent the last eight years in Seattle. He loves creating music and exploring new sounds and sharing his musical discoveries and techniques with others.
